My Great Uncle Robert Allinson

My Great Uncle Robert Allinson, was a younger brother of Thomas and Walter still in England. Most of his records were lost in fire, and his name was misspelled originally. He was promted to Lance corp, and seriously wounded by shrapnel in France, carried from the field and transported to hospital, where after several days the nurses were alarmed to find a live grenade in his pocket. That became a lucky charm for him, and he laughed about it, and would show us his scars.
He also enlisted in WW11 and was a training Sargent in Wainwright.

I remember the songs he would sing, and he would go to the Legion in Lacombe where he had a plumbing business to reminisce and sing songs.
