Exhibition

About

Many hands and hearts contributed to the development of the virtual exhibit Armistice 100: Edmonton & the First World War.

Content included in this exhibit was originally created in support of two in-person events held in Edmonton: the 100th anniversaries of the Battle of Vimy Ridge held on April 9, 2017, and the end of the First World War (Armistice) on November 11, 2018. Many sincere thanks to the Vimy 100 and Armistice 100 Committees for their hard work and contributions to enlivening this aspect of Canadian history.

Colourized archival photos are courtesy of the Vimy Foundation.

Vimy & Armistice stories were researched & written by Adriana A. Davies.

Edmonton Solider Cards were created by Heather Kerr, Curator with the City of Edmonton Heritage Collection.

WWI Memory Wall was developed for the 2018 Armistice event and consists of memories of the Great War submitted by the general public. Submit your WWI memory here.

The In Flanders Fields video was created for the 2018 Armistice event. Many people contributed to its development.

The Armistice 100 – Edmonton & the First World War Virtual Exhibit was assembled by Christina Hardie, Curator of the Edmonton City as Museum Project (an initiative of the Edmonton Heritage Council) & Kobot, our website developers.

The Edmonton Heritage Council & Edmonton City as Museum Project are thankful for the opportunity to share this work with the larger public as a virtual exhibit.
