My second great uncle James Cameron

WW1 – My second great uncle James Cameron served with Gordon Highlanders certificate from war site on ancestry. Died of wounds in Flanders – 1918. Buried in Sommes. Was from Aberdeen, Scotland.

His brother John served in Canada – Records unknown but survived war and moved to Manitoba with my great grandmother, his sister, Jean Cameron.

The Gordon Highlanders went into battle with traditional uniform kilts no pants. With cold, mud, lice, they suffered more than English and Canadian troops. Had to wrap kilts up like short pants and pull their stockings to stay warmer and dry as [they lived in] cold, wet, muddy miserable conditions.
