This year at KDays, come visit our new interactive exhibit and ask yourself…
What are Edmonton’s most iconic tastes and sounds? What parts of our city are hidden from view? Can you recognize places just by touch or smell?
Smell
Did you know that Edmonton has smell investigators? Around the spring runoff season, Epcor enlists 300 volunteers to sniff their water and report any funky odors. In our smell exhibit, you become the smell investigator and match the story to the smell!
See
What parts of our city can we no longer see? Try out our interactive map to see where Edmonton’s lost waterways ran, and where past coal mines used to be. Then have a look at a real uranium glass butter dish and watch it glow under UV light.
Hear
What does our city sound like? Hear Edmonton’s historical music scene at our listening stations. We’ve got rare and well-known recordings from local musical acts like Judi Singh, TrinCan Steel Orchestra, and the Edmonton Civic Opera.
Touch
What materials is our city made of? Come feel pieces of Edmonton! Our touch table features a 3D guessing box, clinker bricks, a Strathcona Hotel shingle, and good old North Saskatchewan River water. Then use our Braille stylus to try writing your name in Braille.
Taste
What is your favourite Company’s Coming recipe? Flip through our mega-stack of Company’s Coming cookbooks, learn a bit about their creator Jean Paré, and add to our KDays recipe book. Grab a piece of candy too, and learn about Edmonton’s candied past.
