ECAMP · Clock In – Episode 6 – Diane and Martin

Diane Connors grew up knowing her dad Martin did cool work as an astrophysicist. But she’s always been curious to know more: How did he get into it? What’s he proud of? What’s he learned over the years?

Martin Connors is a Professor of Astronomy, Mathematics, and Physics at Athabasca University. He studies asteroids, auroral effects on space weather, and instrumentation. His research on Earth’s Trojan asteroids was on the cover of the journal Nature in 2011.

In this episode of Clock In, host Jay Gilday guides Diane and Martin through a conversation about astronauts on TV, burning the midnight oil, and the changing nature of work.

Clock In is a podcast mini-series about work from ECAMP – the Edmonton City as Museum Project. Each episode, host Jay Gilday helps people talk to their parents about the work they did when they were younger. Along the way, we learn how working life has changed in the city.
