Black migration from Oklahoma to Edmonton created a lasting (although often forgotten) mark on the city’s culture. This walking tour explores the people and places of that early period of African-American culture in Edmonton. In addition to the storied legacies of Black migration to townships like Amber Valley and Keystone, these communities have made and continue to make a profound impact on life in our city.

Presented by ECAMP (Edmonton City as Museum Project) and curated by Dr. Russell Cobb, this tour is scheduled to start at the Kinistinâw Park (10249 96 Street). Park, and wind its way to Commonwealth Stadium. Please be prepared to walk or roll 3 kms.

A Juneteenth-inspired lunch is provided and an accessible bus will take participants back to the starting point after the tour.

More details will be sent to registered participants closer to the event date. Check your Eventbrite ticket emails for those updates.
